You never have to apply or try to match a beige to your face again. With Demi Colour by Seint, you can filter only the areas with excess color and bring them back into balance with the beautiful skin around them. You will be left with a gorgeous, deep complexion, that still bounces light naturally. Read on for tips on how to identify excess color and start applying your Demi color with confidence.
Take a good look at your face
It is important in appling demi color that we first study our faces and find the areas that our eyes are drawn to. Areas that may be distracting from our best features. (ex. blemishes, “redness”, dark undeyes, scars, sunspots)
Ask yourself this question. What do I actually want to cover? You may find the answer to this question is much different than “What do I need to cover?”
We have to forget all we know about covering the whole face and only focus on the things that are out of balance. You will be surprised how quickly your face comes into balance when you cover only a few spots.
For the eyes to be drawn to the good, all we have to do is diminish the “bad”. Most of what we are covering with traditional makeup is perfectly beautiful skin. Once the distraction disappears the eyes will be drawn to other beautiful parts of the face, like the eyes.
What colors do you see?
Now you are going to ask your self “what colors do I see?” Remember we are eliminating excess color which looks very different on the skin.
- Is the color dark?- If yes, then it will most likely be blue and you would solve with the complimentary color, orange.
- Is it vibrant and bright?- If yes, then it will most likely be purple and you will color solve with yellow
- Does it appear to be warm or brown?- If yes, then it is most likely green and you would color solve with red.

Why we see so much “Red”
When we look at our faces it is very easy to jump to the conclusion that everything is red. It will actually be rare to have a true red spot to filter. the reason why we see red, is because of the amount of space it takes up on a color scale. Look at the example here.
- Red takes up the most space and is the most saturated color, so we would think that is what is most excessive on our faces
- Purple is the most vibrant. Things that appear red, are most likely excess purple.
- Blue is the darkest, so anywhere that looks ashy, or a cool dark is most likely excess blue
A truly red area would look fiery bright and incredibly saturated. Like a fresh, extremely inflamed, angry acne.
How to differentiate BLUE from GREEN
A large part of how to identify excess color is differentiating between blue and green. Both will appear as dark areas on the face. The key difference is the tone in the darkness. To correctly identify which is which, you will ask “Is the area cool or warm”
- Cool toned (blue)- will appear ashy
- Warm toned (green)- will appear “mulchy”, like a leaf that has died and turned brown.
Examples of blue would be under eye darkness, usually on the inside corner, parts of acne scars, and some stages of acne healing.
Examples of green would be freckles, under eyes sun spots, and melasma
What to do after identifying the excess color
Once you have identified the excess color, you can start applying the complimentary color. This complementary color will neutralize and filter out the excess and leave only your natural skin tone.

Important Demi Colour Tips
- Use very little product. You are only trying to diminish the excess.
- Make sure you are ONLY touching color to color. If you go outside the area of excess color, you will cause more issues.
- Most areas are made up of many excess colors. Identify them all. Trying to swipe over one area with one color will create problems. Again I say, only touch complimentary color to complimentary color.
- Start with the darkest spots first (blues and greens) and work your way to the brighter areas. This will ensure you do not over apply.
- If you are feeling washed out, you are using the wrong application
When you get the perfect color, those distractions will disappear with the smallest amount of filtering. Print out some helpful cheat sheets here
