The SUGAR Training
One of the trainings that was held at Reign, Maskcara’s 2019 Conference, was called “Let Them Make Cake”. It coincides with Maskcara’s “have your cake and eat it too” mentality. But what does this even mean? How can you be successful with Maskcara Beauty.
In order to learn the best ways for artists to accomplish their goals and see success in their Maskcara business, Cara wanted to break down the process into a step-by-step system that’s simple and easy to follow. When you are just starting out as an Artist, it can seem more complicated than it actually is to get your feet under you – and to avoid getting overwhelmed – which is why Cara created SUGAR (the most important ingredient in cake, of course).
SUGAR consists of only five fundamental steps to help you grow your business. The only catch? You actually have to do them to see success

Share Everyday
For most people, sharing everyday is going to consist of posting to social media. Whether you feel comfortable using social media or not, Cara encourages to utilize the amazing opportunities social platforms can give you. They are a great way to connect with people way beyond your typical day-to-day consumers. Don’t overcomplicate it – all you have to do is share something once a day.
The connections that social media allows you to harbor as an Artist is something that Cara loves most about using social media for business. Social media is a vital part of any online business today, and being a Maskcara artist is no exception. It takes little to no physical effort to reach out to people and communicate with them. Cara also advises that you don’t have to share makeup-related content everyday – mix it up and get personal to allow others to connect with you.
Cara warns you to take precautions, however, and not get caught up in the social media trap. If you use social media, and feel down after you get done scrolling, then you’re probably doing it wrong. Who you follow on social media is as important as what you post. Being a consumer is as big a part of social platforms as it is being an influencer/content producer. If you’re doing social media consumption correctly, you should feel inspired once you turn your phone off. Social media should not be a one-sided conversation – be a smart consumer and a smart producer, and you’ll do just fine.
Use the Product
You do not have to be “good” at sales in order to sell Maskcara – in fact, Cara says the number one best thing you could do to close a sale is to show how much you love it. Showing your passion for Maskcara will be the best thing you can do for your business.
Ignite excitement with your audience – let them see and feel your passion for the product, and you will make sales. Don’t get caught up in doing the same thing every day – try out different techniques, use different colors, and get outside of your comfort zone.
Guide Your Team
When you first start, you won’t have a team to guide. Cara encourages you to use this time to familiarize yourself with the company, how the comp plan works and memorize the products. Maskcara is more than just doing makeup with your friends – it’s an opportunity for you to make money, support your family by putting food on the table, and make connections with all sorts of people.
Even if you don’t want to have and grow a huge team, it’s still a good idea to know how to be a good leader and how to encourage others. Educating yourself as much as possible will go a long way in helping you gain and retain team members. Not only will it help the people on your team become better artists, it will also help you become a better leader.
Along with this, Cara says one of the most important things you can do as a leader is to get to know the people on your team. Spend time learning about them and learning how you can best help THEM, not how they can best help you. Be confident in yourself, Maskcara, and all that you’ve learned – be the backbone new artists need until they become comfortable and familiar with the makeup.

Work with UsAce That Color Match
Knowing how to color match is the most important aspect of being an artist. It’s what makes Maskcara so unique – no other company out there does it the way Maskcara does. This is why it’s important to master the color match as quickly as you can.
Another tip Cara has for color matching is to match at least four faces a month (more if you can manage it), because the more you color match, the more familiar you become with the makeup and how to apply it. These four color matches should be in-person, face-to-face interactions. While online color matching is an awesome way to get business, there is no substitute for physically applying the makeup to someone else’s skin. Since Maskcara is always coming out with new colors, there’s no other way to know how the colors look and feel until you practice with them. Another important aspect of in-person color matching is being there to see the customers’ faces light up. You can’t get the intimate interactions with online color matching as you can in person.
Retain Your Customers
In the beginning, you may feel like you’re putting in more effort to gain customers than it’s worth. Cara’s advice is to keep doing what you’re doing, and it will eventually turn into a reward. Customers are your most precious resource, after all, so making sure they are happy with the makeup will go a long way in guaranteeing they keep buying from you.
Don’t disappear after the sale! Be invested. Time invested in your customers’ initial satisfaction, both with the products and in confidence with applying it, will result in repeat customers. Don’t be so focused on getting new customers, either – it’s equally as important to keep the ones you have.
Be empathetic – frustrations, even beyond your control, can be turned into positive experiences and lifelong customers when these situations are handled with care and concern. Give reassurance that you will work to make things right. Go above and beyond the basic expectations. One of the greatest benefits of Maskcara is the opportunities it allows to really connect with other people.
